Cancellation & Refund Policy
Hosts set their own rules for their services. When a host hasn't stated any, the defaults below apply to bookings made through Meche.
Cancelling or rescheduling
- Guests can cancel or reschedule from the link in their confirmation, or on the Manage a booking page using their reference.
- Rescheduling moves your booking to a new free time. Any payment you already made carries over to the new time.
- Hosts can cancel from their dashboard. The guest is notified.
Default refund rules
- Guest cancels 24 hours or more before the start: full refund.
- Guest cancels less than 24 hours before, or doesn't show up: the host may keep the payment.
- Host cancels, or the session can't happen because of the host: full refund, or a new time if the guest prefers.
- The session took place but something went seriously wrong: raise it with the host within 7 days. Hosts are expected to deal with it fairly.
Who pays the refund
While payments go straight from guests to hosts (for example by Telebirr or CBE Birr), refunds are made by the host to the account the guest paid from, normally within 7 days. Meche never receives these payments, so it can't issue refunds itself. We can help, though: if a host doesn't respond, email us with your booking reference and we will follow up and may suspend hosts who don't honour this policy.
When built-in card and wallet payments launch, refunds for those payments will be sent back through the same payment provider. We will update this page when that happens.
Meche fees
Meche is currently free for hosts and guests, so there are no Meche fees to refund.
